Hello everyone! I'm a supplier of air fryer heating elements, and today I'd like to talk about the materials used in air fryer heating elements.
First, let's understand the function of an air fryer heating element. The heating element is like the heart of the air fryer, responsible for heating the air inside, thus cooking the food. Without a high-quality heating element, your air fryer won't function properly.
One of the most commonly used heating wire materials for air fryer heating elements is nickel-chromium alloy. Nickel-chromium alloy is an alloy composed of nickel and chromium. Why is it so popular? Because it has some excellent properties. First, it has a high melting point. This means it can withstand the high temperatures required for cooking food in an air fryer without melting or deforming. When cooking at temperatures as high as 200-250 degrees Celsius, you need a material that can withstand high temperatures.
Another advantage of nickel-chromium alloy is its electrical resistance. When current passes through a nickel-chromium alloy, it impedes the flow of current. This resistance generates heat, which is exactly what an air fryer needs. The generated heat is then transferred to the air inside the fryer, thus cooking the food.
Nickel-chromium alloy is also not easily oxidized. Oxidation can damage materials over time, but when nickel-chromium alloys are exposed to air, a thin layer of chromium oxide forms on their surface. This chromium oxide acts as a protective barrier, preventing further oxidation and extending the lifespan of the air fryer's heating element.
Some air fryer heating elements are made of stainless steel. Stainless steel is a very durable material with excellent corrosion resistance, which is crucial because the inside of an air fryer can become somewhat moist during cooking. Moisture can cause corrosion in some materials, but stainless steel withstands it.
Stainless steel elements are also relatively easy to clean. You don't have to worry about them scratching or getting damaged easily. They can withstand the wear and tear of daily use with an air fryer. However, compared to nickel-chromium alloys, stainless steel may have slightly lower heating efficiency. Therefore, to improve the heat dissipation of stainless steel, mid-to-high-end heating elements typically undergo dehumidification and bluing treatments. Bluing involves exposing the air fryer heating element to a high-temperature furnace at 1800 degrees Celsius (using ammonia, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide) to turn it green. Dehumidification is necessary because high-temperature magnesium powder easily absorbs moisture, so the green element undergoes a further dehumidification process at 200 degrees Celsius for 8 hours. Blued elements dissipate heat faster than unblued elements, but the cost is also higher.
Besides stainless steel, some high-end air fryer elements may use ceramic materials. Ceramic elements have some unique advantages. They heat up very quickly and distribute heat evenly. This means that food cooks more evenly in air fryers equipped with ceramic elements. Ceramic is also... It's made of a very safe material. It doesn't release any harmful chemicals when heated, which is crucial when cooking food. However, ceramic elements are often more expensive to produce, so you'll typically find them in high-end air fryers.
